A little bit about me...

In order to make best use of my skills and qualifications shown below, I have always strived to develop further as a coach & trainer.

For many years I was the main liaison point between IAM RoadSmart head office and the motorcycle groups in the South East. My role was to share best practice, guide and assist them when developing new working procedures, as well as helping them to address any issues raised which were affecting their performance.

I was also employed as their consultant trainer (motorcycle), coaching / training corporate clients to advanced test standard. These included AA motorcycle patrols, Network Rail & Tubelines supervisors, enabling them to attend incidents and emergencies promptly, whatever the traffic conditions.

In addition I trained customers undertaking the IAM RoadSmart 'fast track;' a concentrated course for those who wished to complete their test preparation in a short time. In all these roles I achieved a 100% pass rate.

During this time I sat on various working parties helping to develop procedures, one of which was best practice in the use of radios as a training tool.

One of my current roles within my local group is working as a mentor for trainee observers (trainers) wishing to achieve the full qualification. I would watch them in action; then advise and guide them, passing on techniques to help them become the best they could be. So far another 100% success rate.

Another role is that of cross-check observer; a quality check of associates deemed ready for test, assessing their readiness and highlighting any areas that still need a little work to help ensure a successful outcome.

I am also a mentor for the the IAM RoadSmart 'Masters' test, recognised as the highest civilian riding qualification in the UK. The two candidates I have coached for this have both passed with Distinction.

As an experienced coach and trainer I have become a focal point for colleagues seeking help and advice to enhance their own performance.

I began my riding career at the tender age of 16; my first bike was a Honda C90 Cub, bought in 1972 for the princely sum of £135!

Since then I have ridden a wide variety of machines, from Peugeot moped to Moto Guzzi California, Yamaha R6 to Honda Goldwing and most bikes in between.

My current bike is a Honda Pan European - love it!

Some of my notable achievements and qualifications:-

2003 Passed the RoSPA advanced motorcycle test; awarded a Gold, which I have retained 5 more times up to 2018
